Le Quart’Ney is a community center located in Angers, whose mission is to strengthen social ties, promote inclusion, access to culture, and support the public through social, educational, and cultural actions. The structure is aimed at a broad and intergenerational audience: children, families, young people, seniors, and people in precarious situations, offering workshops, events, tourist routes, and accessible information resources for all.

Project overview

This project consists of the creation of visual and editorial materials meant to support the actions of Quart’Ney, particularly through a tourist and cultural route, informative booklets, and printed documents with a social purpose.

The main challenge was to design a clear, warm, and inclusive graphic identity capable of:

  • guiding residents and visitors,

  • enhancing the territory and its initiatives,

  • communicating complex information in an accessible manner,

  • strengthening the sense of belonging to the neighborhood.

The project is part of a design for social good approach, where readability, pedagogy, and utility are as important as aesthetics.

Défis

  • Design an inclusive artistic direction, tailored to very diverse audiences

  • Find a balance between graphic expression and functional readability

  • Structure a large amount of information without visual overload

  • Respect the framework and values of an associative structure

  • Produce coherent materials that can be used for information, guidance, and social mediation

Goals

  • Facilitate access to information for diverse audiences

  • Create resources that promote the discovery of the neighborhood and its initiatives

  • Enhance the visual identity of Quart’Ney without distorting it

  • Offer a graphical experience that is accessible, human, and engaging

  • Design printed materials that are easily disseminable and usable in the field

Approach & Key Decisions

The artistic direction is based on a simple and modular visual language, combining:

  • identifiable graphic shapes,

  • a palette of bright but controlled colors,

  • a clear hierarchy of content,

  • a balanced use of typography to facilitate reading.

The visuals are inspired by the urban territory, its textures, its colors, and its human diversity, in order to faithfully reflect the identity of the neighborhood and its inhabitants.

Produced supports

  • Printed booklets (routes, events, practical information)

  • Multi-page editorial layout

  • Visuals for local communication and associative outreach

  • Graphic adaptations suitable for different uses (information, events, orientation)

Results & Learning

The Quart'Ney project has resulted in a range of coherent, accessible, and functional visual supports that meet the concrete needs of a community center engaged in social connections.
The deliverables allow for better information flow, enhancement of the territory, and a smoother user experience for both residents and visitors.

This experience allowed me to strengthen my skills in:

  • editorial design,

  • social communication,

  • hierarchization of complex content,

  • graphic adaptation to diverse audiences,
while working on a project with a strong human and territorial impact.
