OnBoard is a project carried out as part of the workshop "English Game", which aimed to design a board game in English using limited resources. The project aimed to simulate a situation close to a client order, emphasizing collaboration, creativity, and the production of a tangible support within a constrained timeframe.

Project overview

OnBoard is an educational board game designed to promote the learning of English in a playful way. The project is not limited to the creation of the game itself but also encompasses its overall visual identity, its communication materials, and a digital version aimed at extending the experience.
The challenge was to transform an abstract idea into a coherent, playable, and understandable product while respecting the material constraints imposed by the workshop.

Défis

The project constraints were strong: limited resources, reduced time, and the production of a finalized physical object. A clear and identifiable identity had to be designed, capable of attracting attention while remaining readable and understandable to a wide audience.
Another challenge was to effectively prioritize the information so that each medium played a specific role, without weighing down the user experience.

Goals

The main objective of the project was to design a functional, attractive, and accessible game capable of stimulating the learning of English through play.
The project also aimed to demonstrate the ability to structure a complete visual identity, to adapt a concept across multiple media, and to maintain aesthetic and functional coherence between print and digital.

Approach & Key Decisions

My role within the group was centered on art direction and visual design. I was responsible for the graphic design of the game box, the creation of promotional posters, and the web design aimed at presenting the rules and the universe of the game.
The approach was based on a thorough reflection on the project's identity, the readability of the information, and visual engagement, in order to offer a clear, intuitive, and consistent experience across all media.

Results & Learning

OnBoard leads to a board game with a strong and coherent visual identity, enriched by complementary print and digital materials. Each element contributes to enhancing the user experience and making learning more engaging.
This project allowed me to develop skills in global design, visual storytelling, and multi-platform creation, while experimenting with a complete design approach, from the initial idea to the final realization of a tangible product.
